Welcome 2010

I know we are well into the first month of 2010 but here is my welcome to the new year post.

I was thinking about new years and what they mean.
Some people make resolutions...we never keep them.
Some people just see it as having to remember to use the new year number on a check.
If you even still write checks these days!

I like to think of it as a new start, a fresh beginning.
What will this new year bring?
Will I be different this year?

Personally I have a lot of things going to happen this year.
Moving, getting married, perhaps buying a house.
So I already expect this year to be different in those ways.

But what about the inside me.
Will I still be too sensitive?
Will I continue to reconnect with old friends?
Will I be more forgiving?
Will I be open to new creative processes?

I am starting out the new year as I am...
but what will I be at the end of this year?

How very exciting!

I was thinking about this as I was making jewelry the other day.
I started with this piece:

As it is, it is fine. It has all the parts to be a perfectly nice piece of jewelry.
But maybe it is just not right for 2010.

And I took it apart and examined the pieces individually.
I moved things here and there until I came up with sections that were more pleasing to the eye.

What were once bunched and dangling are now strung out proudly on gold chain.

What once carried the full burden is now being carried and is only responsible for a small group.

It's still all of the same pieces, they are just reworked, readjusted.

Is it better?
Some may say yes, some may say no.

But it is fresh and new with a whole new outlook.
A whole new purpose.

Welcome 2010.
So excited to see what you have in store for us!

xoxo
