Estate Sales and Dance Lessons

What a wonderful Thursday it has turned out to be.
I was not feeling so great the beginning of the week but today really turned things around for me.
I woke up and just KNEW I had to get out of the house.
So me and Skippy hopped in the car with the maps to the Scottsdale Estate Sales already loaded up and ready to go...
Off we went.

The first stop was in Paradise Valley. A very nice little section of town. Amazing houses and great pickings for Estate Sales.
This one was all about antiques...so of course I wanted lots and lots of things in that house, but I was well behaved.
I came out of there with a vintage sparkly brooch

and an adorable mini metal hanger set.

This will be part of the Blossom Shop table display. I can just imagine pairs of earrings hanging from the hangers...too cute!

After the first successful stop we were off to the next. A much more modest neighborhood this time.
But the goodies found were just as lovely!
I left there with a few nice pieces and a display bowl for the Blossom Shop table.

But my biggest surprise was not yet discovered.

On my way out the door I was met by a lovely man who asked if I left him any bargains in the house. I told him I left a few so he better get in there in a hurry.
Much to my surprise this started a sweet conversation on the sidewalk.

My very sweet new friend's name was Ed. And Ed had just started sketching at the age of 74. I can not tell you how long ago that was though.
But before that he was a dancer for 43 years!
A dancer!
Well wouldn't you know it...I was treated to an impromptu dance lesson, right there on the sidewalk!
Ladies and gentlemen, I have been taught the Cha Cha.
Thank you Ed, what a lovely surprise you were on my Thursday.

You never know what surprises an ordinary looking day can bring.

I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day.
Mine was, thank you so much for asking!

Sweetie and I ran some errands, had a nice lunch and then later on had steak fondue for dinner.

Thank you so much to our dear friend Pia for introducing us to this wonderfully fun way to share a meal together. I made some lovely dipping sauces for the meat and french fries and we had a mozzarella, tomato and basil salad.

Delicious!!

I made up a few Valentines cards and thought I would share my silly ideas.

Glitter, paper, ribbon and glue...a few of my favorite things.
Oh! The images are from ArtChix Studio. Wonderful images and other goodies to be found there!

I also used some of Vanessa Valencia's cards.
You can find cute cards for lots of occasions on her website under FREE TREATS.
Here is link to get you there!

Have a wonderful Monday everyone!
I am gonna get back to my next new idea...I always seem to have something in the works!

Tiny House Update

Hi all!

No, I have not totally forgotten about the tiny house.
I was...taking a break, yah, that's it.

I finished all the surfaces with pretty pretty paper.

I accented the fence and the roof line with black ribbon.

I think its a good overall base.

Now comes the detail decorations!

I think I will work on it over the weekend.
More to come soon!

Huzzah!

Hi friends!
I hope everyone had a great weekend.
I did!

A tent?
Did I go to the circus?
Nope!
Sweetie and I spent Saturday at the Renaissance Festival in Apache Junction, Arizona.
What a wonderful day to spend outside.

We did lots of walking and eating and watching.

What did we see? you ask.
Well here you go!~

We watched a Blacksmith tend his fire...

and pound, sculpt and make holes in the metal on the anvil.

We met Mother Goose and her Geese.

Love the hairdo!

We saw hippos in a carriage being accompanied by what I can only guess is a frog...

And some musicians!

We watched beautiful butterflies take children for a spinning ride.

We sat and ate some lunch and listened to a woman play the harpsichord.

I also love the buildings at the Ren Faire.
They are just so "out of a fairy tale" for me.

There are even wonderful little hidden spots that are so magical.

Its was a wonderful day.

Another Trip to Melrose Vintage

yes, I love that shop.

I met up for lunch with Jen from Starving Artist Bazaar at Fez in downtown Phoenix.
I had the Lamb Kirsa....lettuce, tomato, feta and lamb over some flatbread, deee-lish!
And the sweet potato fries are a must.

Then after lunch we went out for some much needed retail therapy and a good chat.

I quickly suggested Melrose Vintage.
Once we got there Jen quickly agreed that the shop had me written all over it!

We had the most fun in the scrapbook section.
It is amazing how much stuff there is out there.
And of course I managed to find myself a few things to pick up!

Most (but not all of) of it is for a project involving a chip board house.

I don't think I have talked about my growing obsession with tiny houses yet....but trust me, I have one.

I think is project is so cute!
I picked out some papers to cover it with.
So I did some tracing and cutting and gluing...

And the structure is taking on some personality!

I am still gluing the base (the cream and blue flowery patterned one) so that it stands up.
But the house should be ready for decoration later today!

lovin' this project!
I will update as I get more done.

And thanks a ton for all the votes at Cafe Handmade for Blossom Shop.
Lovin' the love!

Knitting Update!

I am loving this knitting thing.
Obsessed almost.
I am certainly not perfect...I am not even good yet.
But I can do it!

I tried to learn about a year ago, got so frustrated I threw the needles and yarn down and did not even think about picking them up again.

But thanks to Twitter and the lovely Holly at Silly Little Lady's Spot on the Web, I am back in the game!
Holly has a great Learning to Knit section on her blog.
If you have ever been interested in learning how to knit I highly recommend her blog.

So my first little project is as finished as its going to get.
Wanna see it?
Of course you do!

This is my baby, Skippy.
Even though we live in Scottsdale, AZ he still gets a little cold sometimes.

So being a good doggy mommy I thought he should have my first project.
A little scarf to keep his neck warm and toasty.

Its nothing fancy, just a regular knitting stitch.
But his favorite part about it is that I made it for him.
Not too shabby for my first try!

thanks Holly!

was clean for 5 minutes...

Well I cleaned up the first mess and started another.
Such is life I guess.

I did my dremeling for Blossom Shop hairclips.
But now the epoxy won't dry.
Hmmpfh.
Hopefully in a few more days they will be ready for pictures and listing.
They are super super cute.
Lots of flowers this time.

With the clips drying off to the side I made room for some serious jewelry making.
Lots of new necklaces.
All silvery and vintage-like.
They are gorgeous!
Pictures of those coming soon.

Now tonight is Valentine Card making.
I've got out sparkly Luminarte pigments and glue and glitter and put-a-smile-on-your-face pictures.
All sorts of wonderful things.

I hope you are all having a fantastic week so far.
(yes, its only Monday but I can hope!)

Glitter is dry! Time for the next layer!
